Ten Commandments
(Short Version)

"But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully"
1 Timothy 1:8



  1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

  2. Thou shalt not have any graven image or likeness before thee.

  3. Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh in vain.

  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

  5. Honour thy father and thy mother.

  6. Thou shalt not murder.

  7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

  8. Thou shalt not steal.

  9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.



Book of Exodus

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yahweh thy Father am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exodus 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh thy Father in vain; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Exodus 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yahweh thy Father: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Exodus 20:11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which Yahweh thy Father giveth thee.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.



Book of Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy 5:6 I am Yahweh thy Father, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Deuteronomy 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

Deuteronomy 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I Yahweh thy Father am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,

Deuteronomy 5:14 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yahweh thy Father: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

Deuteronomy 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that Yahweh thy Father brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore Yahweh thy Father commanded thee to keep the Sabbath day.

Deuteronomy 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as Yahweh thy Father hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which Yahweh thy Father giveth thee.

Deuteronomy 5:17 Thou shalt not kill.

Deuteronomy 5:18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

Deuteronomy 5:19 Neither shalt thou steal.

Deuteronomy 5:20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Deuteronomy 5:21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.
